Activity Bus

Activity Bus If You'd Like to Stay After SchoolIf you’ve been in Chicago long enough, chances are high that you’ve seen a De La Salle Activity Bus. If you’d like to be on any sports teams or clubs and transportation would be difficult, don’t let it deter you from participating. Our Meteor Activity Bus runs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and is provided to those participating in after school extra-curricular activities to transport students to points near to their homes along the bus route boundaries. The Activity Bus covers both the Gold and Blue Routes. See maps for details. Student will board the Activity buses outside the Activity Center on 35th St., outside of doors 6 & 7 at 5:45 pm, and the buses will promptly depart at 6:00 pm. You have to be participating in a school-sanctioned extracurricular activity to be allowed on the Activity Bus. Students who stay after school for other reasons, such as detention, socializing with friends or being a spectator at a sporting event must arrange their own transportation home.

Transportation

Transportation We have bus routes all around Chicago to get you De La Salle. If you’re taking the De La Salle bus, you’ll meet at a designated stop (see table of routes) and hand the bus driver a ticket (or $5) per ride. Bus tickets are also sold as a booklet of 20 ($100), which are available for purchase throughout the day at either the Meteor Shop or during lunch periods in the Commons. All bus tickets sales are final. Reimbursements are not available. The first day bus tickets are available for purchase is at our Back to School Day in August. Students are to be standing on the designated pick-up stop before the bus arrives and be prompt in both boarding and exiting the bus. Buses are scheduled to arrive at De La Salle approximately 15 – 20 minutes before school begins. If traffic or weather causes a delay in arrival time, teachers are told to hold attendance and students are not considered late. At the end of each day, buses depart 10 minutes after dismissal. In order to receive text messages if the bus is running in excess of 20 minutes late or concerning route information , please…

Counseling Services

Counseling Services We provide both academic and personal counseling for students who wish to take advantage of our highly qualified and experienced staff. You’ll find that we’re up-to-date on topics like anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, and grief-counseling and can provide research-based tools that both help the students’ mental health and improve scholastic performance. We are here to meet your academic, social, and developmental needs. When you officially matriculate as a De La Salle Meteor, our Student Services Department will schedule an orientation day to meet you and your parent(s)/guardian(s). We’ll get an inventory of who you are: what you enjoy in school, what you’re nervous about, what subject(s) are your favorite, and what you hope to accomplish with your time at De La Salle. This information will help us get the conversation started so that we can best support you throughout your De La Salle Experience - from excited freshman to graduated senior and every moment in between. Cafeteria

Cafeteria Breakfast and lunch are kind of a big deal around here. Before first period begins, students can enjoy a hearty breakfast. Whether you’d prefer breakfast burritos, french toast, hashbrowns, or scrambled eggs (or more!), we’re serious about students being physically ready and mentally prepared for their morning classes. Then, scheduled for as long as a class period (45 minutes!), our lunch period offers our students time to rest and recharge so that afternoon classes are met with as much success as the morning’s! It’s not uncommon to see students wrap up the eating portion of their lunch period early in order to decompress with a Netflix show, play some games with their friends, or get some homework done and study for an upcoming exam. We invite you to view this month's menu. Cafeteria Cashless System Students use their student ID to make purchases in the cafeteria (and in the Meteor Shop). A barcode on the student’s ID is linked to the My Meal Time system. Each student has their own account. Deposits can be made into their student account one of two ways: The student can bring cash or a check to the Meteor Shop to be deposited in…
