Wake & Funeral Information for Br. James Wegesin ’54, FSC

It is with great sadness that De La Salle announces the passing of longtime faculty member Brother James Wegesin ‘54, FSC.

Br. James, who was a Christian Brother for 65 years, taught at De La Salle from 1996-2017, serving in a variety of capacities including assistant to the president, accounting teacher and school archivist.

Br. James taught in ministries in Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Illinois. He is survived by his brothers, John and Joseph, nephews, Thomas and Gregory, and the De La Salle Christian Brothers.

Thomas serves De La Salle as a math teacher.

Br. James is preceded by his parents, Edward and Evelyn, and sisters, Janice and Catherine.

Arrangements for Br. James are as follows:

Thursday, September 24, viewing from 10 – 11 am at St. James Church, located at 2907 S. Wabash Ave. in Chicago. A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11 am and is limited to 40 people.

Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.

Eternal rest grant unto Br. James, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
