Overview

De La Salle Institute is currently accepting applications for the position of Head Varsity Volleyball Coach. Candidates should possess an appreciation for our Lasallian mission and commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment.

School Description

De La Salle Institute is an independent Catholic secondary school rooted in the tradition of Christian education begun by St. John Baptist de La Salle. Essential Functions:

  • Selects, organizes, and evaluates staff.
  • Communicates with assistants as to their role, duties, and expectations.
  • Is responsible for the issuance and collection of equipment for all levels.
  • Supervises practice, contest, and locker room facilities and the transportation of athletes to and from practices/contests.
  • Cooperates with requests for information from the athletic office in a timely manner & completes necessary paperwork on time.
  • Promotes and publicizes team and individual achievement to the media and school.
  • Demonstrates care of facilities and equipment.
  • Ensures full compliance with school, district, conference and IHSA rules and regulations.
  • Assists in the organization of awards and recognition programs and pep assemblies.
  • Follows proper budget procedures and adheres to budget allotment
  • Articulates program to lower levels and appropriate feeder schools.
  • Disseminates player information/letters to colleges in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Communicates effectively with athletes, including team rules, responsibilities and consequences for violations.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for working with student athletes and displays concern for all team members.
  • Develops team morale and rapport and disciplines in a firm, fair & consistent manner
  • Shows interest in the academic achievement of athletes.
  • Encourages athletes to participate in other school sports and activities and shares facilities
  • Conducts oneself in a professional manner on and off the field.
  • Communicates effectively with parents, media and other stakeholders
  • Establishes and maintains good rapport with the coaching staff, faculty and administration.
  • Works cooperatively and communicates regularly with the athletic director.

COACHING PERFORMANCE:

  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge for this level of coaching.
  • Teaches appropriate fundamentals, skills, and strategies.
  • Plans and organizes for effective and safe practices
  • Publicly rewards good effort and performance with praise and corrects constructively
  • Prepares team for contests using effective game strategy
  • Possesses a working knowledge of basic first aid procedures, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Performance of team reflects enthusiasm, motivation, proper fundamentals and sportsmanship.
  • Attends required meetings, coaching clinics and reads current literature
  • Cooperates with performance evaluation and implements recommendations for improvement.
