By March 29, 2021August 26th, 2022No Comments

During the month of March, we are taking time to highlight several of our esteemed colleagues and reflect on all they do to ensure that De La Salle is a safe, vibrant, and wonderful institution of learning. The Women of D are a vital part of our community. We are grateful for your contributions.

Meet Nicole Accomando

She is a School Counselor and Sophomore Class Moderator who began her career at De La Salle in 2014. “I work with students in regards to academics, social emotional issues, and assisting students with the college process. My day to day work varies depending on the needs of the students, but always encompasses those three domains of counseling.”

Background and Journey to De La Salle

“After graduating college from Eastern Illinois University, I was working as an administrator at a childcare center. After a year, I decided to go back to school and get my master’s degree in Counseling with the intention of becoming a high school counselor. I graduated with my MA in school and community counseling from Saint Xavier University in 2012 and completed my counseling internship at St. Rita. I then went on to work at St. Francis de Sales for two years before being hired at De La Salle and spending the last seven years here.”

What inspires you about De La Salle?

“Our students inspire me and so does the community at De. The environment at De La Salle allows for students and faculty to get know and support one another in a way that I never experienced throughout my own high school years. The relationships that are built at De La Salle are genuine, caring and trusting, which is evidenced through daily interactions.”

What Woman has been an inspiration to you?

“Both my mom and my grandma have inspired me throughout my life. My mom was always kind, compassionate, and understanding, and my grandmother is a beacon of strength, resiliency, and independence.”
