De La Salle proudly announces that student-athletes Nyiah and Nina Penny have signed letters-of-intent to attend Indiana Tech University in Fort Wayne, IN and become members of the Warriors’ women’s volleyball program.
Nyiah, an outside hitter, earned berths on the All-Girls Catholic Athletic Conference Red Division Team as a junior and a senior. She led De La Salle in kills this season with 224.
Nina, a setter and right-side player, also was a key contributor in the 2019 season as the Meteors finished with an overall record of 31-7 and advanced to the IHSA Class 3A Hinsdale South Supersectional.
Both Nina and Nyiah excel in the classroom at De La Salle as they are enrolled in the Honors Program.
“I’d like to offer my congratulations to both Nina and Nyiah,” De La Salle girls varsity volleyball head coach Anna Marassa said. “In their four years at our school, they have been exemplary leaders in the classroom and on the volleyball court and truly define what being a student-athlete is about.
“They will go on to do great things at Indiana Tech and I am very proud to have coached them during their years at De La Salle.”
De La Salle congratulates Nina and Nyiah on all their achievements and wishes them every future success.
