One of the things we would like to do on De La Salle’s social media platforms beginning today is to recognize those Meteors who are giving of themselves during these difficult times as first responders, medical personnel or anyone else whose career is considered essential.

We thank all of these exemplary men and women for their dedication and commitment to others and pray that they remain safe and well.

If you know of someone who should be lauded, please contact De La Salle’s Communications Coordinator, Mike Walsh, at walshm@dls.org.

The first Meteors we would like to feature today are Rich Barnotes ’10 and his sister, Colleen ’17.

Rich is an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) for Superior Ambulance. He also serves De La Salle as our assistant coach for lacrosse.

Colleen is a Patient Care Technician at Advocate Children’s Hospital.

They were nominated by De La Salle Admissions Assistant Kaitlin Barnotes, who is Rich’s wife and Colleen’s sister-in-law.

“I’m extremely proud of how selfless they both are in their work,” Kaitlin Barnotes said. “It takes a special kind of person to work as a first responder and in health care and it’s not easy, especially with what is going on in the world right now.

“They are putting themselves at risk every day in order to keep everyone else safe. They both go to work every day without thinking twice about it and give 150 percent for their patients.”

Thank you, Rich and Colleen, for all your efforts. Everyone at De La Salle is very proud of you! Please stay safe and well!
