De La Salle proudly announces that four members of our Class of 2020 participated in the recent 12th annual Double Duty Classic at Guaranteed Rate Field, the home of the White Sox.

Representing the West team was Phillip Hunter while Matt Boehm, Jeremy Figueroa and Isaiah Hernandez were on the East team roster. The West defeated the East by a score of 5-1.

The Double Duty Classic recognizes the history of Negro League baseball in Chicago and promotes the next generation of inner-city baseball players. Players wore throwback uniforms honoring the Negro Leagues’ East-West All-Star Teams.

Named after Negro League standout Ted “Double Duty” Radcliffe, the Double Duty Classic is a celebration of the best inner-city high school players in the country. Since its inaugural year in 2007, the DDC has served as a way to remember the history and tradition of Negro League Baseball in Chicago.

Congratulations, Phillip, Matt, Jeremy and Isaiah on this outstanding opportunity! Everyone at De La Salle is very proud of you!
