De Reads Summer Reading List 2021

By May 14, 2021August 26th, 2022No Comments
As we continue to promote literacy at De La Salle Institute, our students, faculty and staff participate in a program called De Reads. A volunteer committee met to discuss and choose titles for the De La Salle family to read and enjoy this summer.

As we are living and adjusting to what is considered the “new normal,” we decided to revise our traditional summer read by providing students the autonomy to choose one book from the list recommended by faculty and staff members. Our central goal is for students to develop an independent reading habit and the enjoyment of reading by allowing them to choose a title that interests them.

Each student is responsible for bringing the title along with the signed “acknowledgement of reading” by a parent or guardian on the first day of class. Teachers in each academic course will have specific class lessons incorporating independent reading for their students during the 2021-2022 school year.

Visit our new “Free Little Library” in De La Salle’s courtyard designed by junior, Nicholas Quigley, to obtain, return, or donate a copy of one of the following titles!
