  • Girls Basketball unfortunately lost in the GCAC Tournament to Resurrection, however, the Girls have been on a tear ever since. On February 9th, the Girls celebrated Senior Night by honoring Heaven Cusic and Jordan Rhodes before the game. The Girls finished the job by ending the regular season with a win by defeating Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart by a final of 50-10. Senior, Heaven Cusic, led the way for the Meteors by scoring 17 points. That win propelled the Meteors into Regional Play where they dominated. The Meteors defeated Noble Johnson by a final 61-41. Kam Porter led the way with 25 points and 7 steals. Heaven Cusic had a nice double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Junior, Taylor Schergen, had 10 points and 9 steals! The Meteors brought pressure right off the bat by running a full court press and forced Johnson into turning the ball over quite often. With the win, the Meteors would play in last night’s Regional Championship against Englewood Stem. Once again, the Meteors brought pressure and made the Lady Panthers play their game. In the end, the Meteors were victorious and punched their ticket into Sectionals! Heaven Cusic was the leading scorer in the Regional Final with 21 points and Junior, Kam Porter, had 19 points.
  • Since the last edition of the Leaderboard, Boys Basketball has gone 3-2. They had quite the battle against Loyola, going to three overtimes to get the win! Senior, Evan Jackson, had 13 points, but Junior, Ali Mbaye, stole the show in the 3rdovertime period by having 3 dunks, 1 block and sank two free throws to ice the Ramblers! The following week, the Meteors traveled to take on the Wolfpack of St. Ignatius. There the Meteors were once again victorious defeating Ignatius by a final of 59-54. Juniors, Richard Lindsey (17 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists) and Tavariyuan Williams (13 points) led the way for the Meteors. Friday, February 10th was Senior Night for the Meteors, where they honored Evan Jackson, Anthony Davis, and Gabe Jackson. The Boys defeated Providence St. Mel by a final of 63-32 with Evan Jackson and Richard Lindsey each scoring 13 points. This past Tuesday, the team traveled to Kenwood where they ultimately fell by a final of 61-57. Tavariyuan Williams scored 18 points and Freshman, Morgan Travis, tallied 9 points. The Meteors need to have a short memory as they head into the Schurz Regional where they await the winner of Noble Pritzker or Noble Speer.
