  • Boys Basketball has been on a nice little run since the last time we posted. In their last 4 games, the Meteors are 3-1, beating St. Laurence, Leo, and Yorkville Christian, while falling to Brother Rice. Against the Vikings, the Meteors had four players in double-digits, led by Junior, Richard Lindsey with 18 points. Senior, Evan Jackson had 15 points, Freshman, Charles Barnes had 12 points, and Junior, Tavariyuan Williams had 10 points. Tavariyuan also enjoyed a nice game against Leo, registering a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Tavariyuan is starting to come into his own these last few games and he gets more comfortable in the rotation. He showed that by coming close to recording a triple-double against Yorkville Christian. He had 9 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists! Unfortunately, the Meteors were knocked off by Brother Rice on Tuesday, but look to bounce back tonight against Loyola! February 10th is Senior Night against Providence St. Mel. Come out and support Seniors Anthony Davis, Evan Jackson and Gabe Jackson!
  • Girls Basketball needed a win last night in the GCAC Tournament and they got it by beating St. Laurence 28-27. It wasn’t a pretty game, but the Meteors needed this win. They were down 8 at the beginning of the 4th quarter and were able to complete the comeback! Over the last two weeks, the Meteors are 2-3, but with the win last night, they are looking to finish out strong before Regional and Sectional play begins. The Meteors earned the 4th seed in the Goode Stem Sectional, and we’ll be hosting Regionals starting February 12th. Before Regionals, however, come out and support Girls Basketball as they enjoy their Senior Night on February 9th against Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart. Seniors being recognized are Heaven Cusic and Jordan Rhodes. We also want to give a big shoutout to Junior, Kam Porter who had 24 points against Walther Christian last week and currently sits at 19.8 for the season. This has been a great junior year for her, but the job is not finished yet!
  • Meteor Wrestling ended the season in proper fashion. They hosted Bremen and St. Ignatius, while also inviting Wrestling Alumni to come out and enjoy the night. Senior Night was capped off in a big way. Seniors being recognized were Cam Villalobos, Jeffrey Sorich, Zion Nix, Raymond Alvarado, Ryan House, and Evan Smith. The Meteors defeated Bremen by a final of 60-22 and defeated St. Ignatius by a final of 66-12. With those two wins, Meteor Wrestling, coached by Jason Davidson moved to 17-3 in the regular season! The Meteors are now preparing for Sectionals, starting on February 11th.
