Week of Dec 6th – Dec 13th

  • Girls Basketball took on St. Laurence on Tuesday, December 6th. Through 3 quarters, it was a physical game, but the Meteors took off in the 4th quarter and defeated St. Laurence by a final of 48-32! Kamryn Porter ’24, had a big day for the Meteors. She had 27 points and 6 rebounds. Brooklin Watkins ’25, finished with 9 points and 5 boards, while Heaven Cusic ’23, had a big day on the glass. She finished with 8 points and 15 rebounds! On Thursday, December 8th, the Meteors battled against Rosary. The Meteors were victorious again with Kamryn Porter and Heaven Cusic leading the charge. Kam had 26 points, while Heaven finished with 11 points. On Friday, the 9th, the Meteors played TF North in the Reavis Holiday Tournament. They defeated TF North by a final of 56-48! Kam Porter had another fantastic game, leading the way with 26 points. Kaylee Williams ’25, had herself a nice game with 11 points and Heaven Cusic followed with 10 points. To wrap up the week and weekend, the Meteors met with ICCP on Saturday. Once again, our Meteors came out on top by defeating ICCP by a final of 50-36! The Meteors had two girls in double figures with Kam Porter registering 18 points and Heaven Cusic chiming in with 12 points. The Meteors met with Tinley Park High School in the Semi-Finals of the Reavis Holiday Tournament. The Meteors defeated Tinley Park HS by a final of 56-28! Kam Porter had 24 points, Heaven Cusic, and Taylor Schergen ’24, both helped out with 12 points. The Meteors will take on Reavis in the Championship Match on Friday, the 16th at 6:30pm!
  • Boys Basketball traveled to DePaul College Prep on Tuesday to take on the Rams. In a hard-fought matchup where both teams shot the ball well, the Meteors were the last one standing, defeating the Rams by a final of 50-48. Richard Lindsey ’24, was the leading scorer for the Meteors with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Anthony Davis ’23, was the other Meteor in double figures with 10 points. On Friday, the Meteors traveled to Marmion Academy with a battle against the Cadets. While ultimately falling to the Cadets, Richard Lindsey (13 points) and Anthony Davis (11 points) both had nice games. On Sunday, the Meteors traveled to Mount Carmel to play in the D-Rose Classic against Proviso East. The Meteors just couldn’t find their rhythm shooting the ball. Richard Lindsey went 6-for-12 from the floor and had 17 points, while Bryant Hedrick ’24, was 4-for-8 and tallied 10 points. This week, the Meteors travel to Providence on Friday, the 16th for a battle with the Celtics.
  • Wrestling enjoyed a nice weekend competing in the 39th Annual Reaper Classic. There were 20 teams that competed in the Classic and the Meteors finished 4th. Jeremiah Lawrence ’26, finished 3rd in his weight class, Raymond Alvarado ’23, finished in 2nd, Evan Smith ’23, was in 3rd, and Zion Nix ’23, was also 3rd in his weight class! JV Wrestling competed in the Thornton Township Tournament. Terrelle Jackson ’25, and Anapaula Cerna ’26, took 1st place in their respective weight classes! Overall, the JV team took 6th This week, the Meteors travel to Lindblom Academy on 12/15 and battle Fenwick High School on Friday, 12/16.
  • Girls Bowling took on St. Ignatius on Thursday, December 8th. The Girls got their first win of the year with a dominating, 353 pin, 3 game sweep of Wolfpack! Leading the charge for the Meteors were Alyssa Lunn ’23, with a 171, Annamarie Arredia ’23, with a 161 and Yasmin Sawyer ’25, with a 143. JV continued their dominance to start the season. They also swept the Wolfpack, winning by a total of 443 pins! Top bowlers for JV were Aolani Villasenor ’25, with a 150, Abbey Ostrowski ’23, with a 149 and Ella Falconio ’25, with a 133. Last night, the Varsity girls bowling team played close match against St. Laurence.  After a slow start and two close losses, the girls stepped on the gas and left the Vikings in the dust dominating game three and taking the overall series by 100 pins. Top Scorers were Yasmin Sawyer with a 161, Alyssa Lunn with a 160, and Annamarie Arredia with a 146. The JV girls bowling team continued their dominance of the GCAC South division with a 3-game sweep over St. Laurence, staying undefeated on the season. Top performers were Aolani Villasenor with a 170, Ella Falconio with a 149 and Emma Woods ’25, with a 147! The girls get to enjoy a nice break and will be back on the lanes, January 2nd, for the first Positional Round.
