By February 10, 2023No Comments

We are proud to announce the February Meteor of the Month: Elijah Jones.

  • Is a peer minister who did a phenomenal job helping lead freshman retreat
  • Is an active member of our State-Ranked Chess Team
  • Was a finalist in the Fatherhood Essay contest their sophomore year
  • Is a member of the Black Student Union
  • Often goes back to their grade school to tutor and help out and because of this was named the inaugural Heritage Leadership Academy Alumni Mentor of the Year

He demonstrates all the values of a true Lasallian student, he's academically successful, a core member of Lasallian Youth, and a leader and mentor for the chess team - for which he is a high achieving competitor. He is a quiet leader, this Meteor leads through example. This student demonstrates kindness and a welcoming demeanor in how he interacts with members of our community. He has shown love for our school by guiding new families into our community and making his peers feel safe and comfortable. He is a loyal friend and advocate for the Lasallian mission.

Mr. Downs

I have known and admired this student for a long time. As a role model I see him using his time wisely and being an active part of Friday morning peer-lead prayer. As a volunteer at a lot of events around school, he is the type of person who is always willing to help others.

A Fellow Peer

Elijah is one of the kindest and smartest students I know. He is always kind to everyone and will try his best to bring positivity into any situation. I am fortunate to have him in my AP Computer science class – as he is a top student in the class and a true LEADER. During the Python bootcamp he helped everyone who needed it and did it with a smile. He is a person who ALWAYS exemplifies his best personal character every single day – this Meteor motivates me to be a better teacher.

Ms. Dean
