Full-Time High School Theatre Director / English and Theatre Teacher
Position Overview:
De La Salle Institute, a Lasallian Catholic college preparatory school, is seeking a passionate and dedicated theatre director and teacher to lead our high school theatre program and teach both theatre and English courses. This role is ideal for an educator who is committed to fostering creativity, collaboration, and a deep appreciation for the performing arts within a faith-based learning environment. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for directing student productions, engaging students in meaningful classroom experiences, and upholding Lasallian values in both their teaching and directing.
Key Responsibilities:
Theatre Directing and Production:
- Oversee all aspects of school theatre productions, including play selection, casting, rehearsals, set design, and performances.
- Collaborate with students and staff to manage technical elements such as lighting, sound, costumes, and stage management.
- Organize and lead auditions, ensuring an inclusive and educational experience for all students.
- Supervise and mentor student actors, crew members, and production assistants.
- Manage the theatre’s budget, fundraising efforts, and ticket sales.
- Serve as the moderator for the thespian society, fostering student engagement in theatre beyond the classroom.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Teach a combination of theatre-related courses and English courses, adapting instruction to meet student needs.
- Provide students with hands-on learning experiences in performance, directing, script analysis, and technical theatre.
- Create a positive, creative, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to take artistic risks and express themselves.
Community Engagement:
- Work with the admissions team to support fine arts recruitment efforts, including shadow days, open houses, and feeder school performances.
- Actively participate in faculty meetings, school events, and the broader school community, contributing to the mission and culture of De La Salle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Theatre, English, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification
- Experience directing and producing theatre productions at the high school or collegiate level (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of theatre pedagogy, acting techniques, and technical theatre (preferred)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Salary Range: $42,000-$70,000
