Mr. Dan Dowling, City of D moderator and science teacher, chaperoned students on an interesting field trip! Northern Illinois University (NIU) has a strong science program, and there are plenty of opportunities for high school students to learn about anatomy and physiology.
Some of the things our students experienced included: touring the anatomy and physiology labs. NIU has state-of-the-art facilities for studying the human body and students saw NIU’s state-of-the-art labs where students learn about anatomy and physiology, and even got a chance to participate in some hands-on activities.
They met with professors and students who specialize in anatomy and physiology and talked with them about their research, their teaching, and their experiences in the field. They also explored the NIU campus with plenty of green space and unique buildings.
Overall, the field trip to NIU was a great way to learn about anatomy and physiology, and to explore a college campus. These are opportunities that our Catholic, Lasallian high school affords our students in their preparation for postsecondary success.
