De La Salle was honored to welcome guest speaker Scott Merkin on Friday morning as he addressed the students in the first-period Journalism class taught by Brittany Monaco ’14.
Merkin has spent nearly 30 years in the field of professional journalism. The University of Michigan graduate and Flossmoor native has served as the Chicago White Sox’ beat writer for the mlb.com website since 2003.
Merkin provided a great deal of advice and insight to the Meteors while also answering a variety of questions related to journalism as a whole and sports journalism in particular.
De La Salle would like sincerely to thank Scott for his time and for visiting our school. We wish him continued success in his career with mlb.com.
