OUT OF MISFORTUNE, SPREADING SEEDS OF LOVE

Help honor the memory of Jaden, Class of 2021, by donating blood. Jaden was a dedicated blood donor, who while a Meteor donated at four consecutive DLS blood drives, and continued his passion for helping others post-graduation by continuing to donate while a student-athlete in college.

Throughout his life, and with the gift he gave of his organs at his untimely death, Jaden was a leader who made a difference. His favorite word, GO, is a call to action.

Let’s Make a Difference, Let’s Goooooooo!

About Jaden

Activist. Philanthropist. Athlete. Hero.

Jaden Sebastian Blake, was passionate about making a difference. While a Meteor at De La Salle, one of his favorite acts of community service was blood donation. He was fascinated by the number of people that could be helped by one donation and loved the snacks!  The death of George Floyd made a profound impression on Jay and he and his brother JB went to Minnesota to protest. After they returned to Chicago they spearheaded the Chicago Children’s March Against Racism with the Chicago Chapter of Jack and Jill. He also led Marches in Wisconsin and other states after the shooting of Jacob Blake. Social and civic engagement, as well as community service, were hallmarks of Jay’s life. As a teen, Jay participated in and led panel discussions on youth involvement for change to the Social Justice system. That’s not to say that Jay was all business, between his loud voice and vibrant personality, he was often the life of the party, and was an obvious choice to be selected by his peers to represent them in the 2020 Homecoming Court.

An accomplished athlete in track & football, Jaden discovered Pole Vaulting while at De La Salle. Despite his late start, Jaden went to college on a pole vaulting athletic and academic scholarship and often talked about his desire to increase exposure and access to non-traditional sports for African Americans. Voted “Member of the Class of 2021 most likely to become a professional athlete,” Jaden was a focused and dedicated student-athlete.

Throughout his life and with the gift he gave of his organs at his untimely death, Jaden was a leader who made a difference. His favorite word, Go!, is a call to action.
