Message From The President
Dear Friends, Alumni, Students and Parents of De La Salle,

Enter the main doors of De La Salle at 3434 S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago. Make a quick left at the first hallway and then a right as you enter into the Boyle Courtyard.

Go across Boyle Courtyard, into the Toth Foyer, approach the set of stairs and look up.

There you will see one of the most interesting features of our school: the set of doors that graced the main entrance of our original building that stood on the northeast corner of 35th and Wabash from 1889-1984.

Not only did these doors serve a functional purpose as the primary entranceway to De La Salle for nearly a century, they also served a deeply symbolic purpose for the students who attended and graduated from De La Salle as well as for the faculty and staff who selflessly poured their heart and soul into the Institute.

For the students, opening these doors every day for four years allowed them access to a wonderfully enriching education that was a key piece of the foundation of their futures, whether they became doctors, lawyers, first responders or any of a wide variety of worthwhile pursuits.

For the faculty, entering through these doors provided them an opportunity to pass their knowledge of a great many subjects onto our students as well as shape the lives of our Meteors based upon the Lasallian concepts of faith, service and community.

We look back reverentially at our past as well as look forward to our future as this coming school year De La Salle will celebrate the 130th Anniversary of its founding.

It is with ample anticipation that we wish to see our Meteors for many years to come receiving their diplomas at Holy Name Cathedral and knowing they have been well prepared for their great futures by attending and graduating from De La Salle.

We wish all of our students and parents the best of everything as the new school year begins. We invite you to attend a game or musical performance or theatrical endeavor and support our Meteors. Your being there would mean everything to our students.

Let’s have a great 2019-20 school year. Go Meteors!

St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us!

Live Jesus in Our Hearts, Forever!
