About the Tablet PC Program
Beginning in August 2006, IBM ThinkPad Tablet PCs made their debut in
the De La Salle Institute classroom. Students who begin their freshman
year at De La Salle will be required to lease or purchase the Tablet PC
which will be used everyday during the four years of high school for
educational and personal use.
One of our goals is to use learning technologies to support the varied
learning styles of our students. This goal is met when students have
the mobility of Tablet PC along with software that is readily available
to them. The Tablet PCs is integrated into the larger curriculum
framework to help students learn concepts, research information, and
share their understanding of the materials with teachers and peers. As
our classrooms continue to become more active with interactive
projects, students continually are challenged to transform information
into knowledge and knowledge into action. Infusing their courses with
learning technologies to produce authentic intellectual work will
further prepare our students for life beyond high school.
Our faculty received extensive training on enhancing student learning
with a Tablet PC and to integrate technology into their lessons.
