Message From The President

Dear Friends of De La Salle,

As we begin the 2010-11 school year, I would like to tailor my message to the 1,200 young women and young men who call De La Salle home.

The word “ownership” is defined as “a legal right of possession; proprietorship.” While the Board of Directors may oversee all that takes place at De La Salle and the administration, faculty and staff handles the day-to-day matters of the Institute, it is really the students who “own” De La Salle.

Sometime in the last four years, you and your family made the decision to attend De La Salle. While there are many excellent choices for secondary education in the city of Chicago and the suburbs, you decided that you wanted to spend the next four years of your life as a Meteor.

When you chose De La Salle, you strengthened an institution that has been around since 1889 and is both growing and deepening its roots every day. This is a vibrant, energetic place of learning that your presence has made and will make even better.

For making the choice to attend De La Salle, we thank you. We feel privileged that we have been afforded the opportunity to provide you with an excellent, Lasallian college preparatory education that will serve as the foundation for and give the impetus to your achieving all your goals and aspirations.

Students, this is your school. Excel in the classroom. Meet friends from different backgrounds and neighborhoods. Join a club, sport or activity. Attend a dance, theatre production, concert or sporting event. Whatever you choose, succeed to the best of your abilities.

Our desire is that when you graduate from the Institute in four years and walk across the altar at Holy Name Cathedral after receiving your diploma at the graduation Mass, you do so with the knowledge that you had an outstanding experience at your high school, De La Salle.

Let’s have a great 2010-11 school year. Go Meteors!

St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us!

Live Jesus in Our Hearts, Forever!
