Building A Legacy - The Endowment Initiative
An Eye On The Future!
Since De La Salle Institute�s founding, the Christian Brothers have been the human endowment of the school by contributing their services in the classroom and in administration. As the number of Christian Brothers steadily decreases, the need to replace these contributed services with revenue becomes increasingly important.
The nonprofit funding environment is volatile and creates a sense of unease and inconsistency. The environment at De La Salle is certainly no exception. Endowment - substantial gifts to an organization, charity, or educational institution like De La Salle Institute in which the principal remains untouched but the interest is used for general or specifically designated purposes - represents the school�s best source of stable income.
Gifts to endowment are invested to provide permanent annual support for the purposes of providing:
- operational stability;
- adequate financial assistance to ensure that qualified students will not be prevented from an outstanding Lasallian education due to a lack of financial resources;
- maintenance and support of key facilities; and
- opportunities to explore new educational initiatives.
De La Salle Institute�s current endowment value stands at approximately $3.0 million.
De La Salle needs to build its endowment fund to a level of $13 - $15 million in order to enable the school to continue moving forward, even in difficult times, meeting the educational needs of students in the future.
Many of the school�s endowments are established as named memorials in remembrance of loved ones, while others are established in honor of family relatives, alumni, special friends, or esteemed faculty members. We invite you to help secure the future of the Institute with a lasting contribution of your own. Thank you.
