Annual Giving
ANNUAL GIVINGAnnual giving supports every facet of the De La Salle experience, from financial assistance to attracting and retaining quality faculty and staff; from curriculum enhancements to capital improvements. It enables the Institute to provide the best educational opportunities possible for its students. Every gift, large or small, made to De La Salle Institute, makes an important impact in each of the lives of our students. Your generosity helps us...
Unrestricted Gifts provide De La Salle with discretionary funds that can be used for a broad range of purposes, enabling the school to respond with flexibility to unexpected opportunities and changing circumstances. Unrestricted funds can be used for scholarships, development of academic programs, faculty recruitment and improvement of essential facilities. Donors place no restrictions on the use of these gifts. Click here to make your gift online. Restricted Gifts are used for a specific purpose, according to the wishes of the donor. Many people choose to give for a purpose that is close to their hearts. Restricted gifts may be for the general support of the school's specified objective or project, or for a very precise objective or project with required adherence to a detailed, approved budget. Each year, more than $3 million in financial assistance is awarded to our families. Typically, scholarships are named in honor or in memory of loved ones. Click here to make your gift online. Endowed Scholarships are funds designated to be held in perpetuity with investment income only to be paid out as a scholarship award. Endowments can be established with a minimum commitment of $25,000. This amount can be paid in one lump sum or paid in annual installments for up to five years (i.e. $5,000 per year). A scholarship can be established and financed through a cash gift, gift of securities, a pledge or a planned gift. Click here to make your gift online. GIVING PROGRAMS The Annual Fund Program remains the very foundation of De La Salle's entire development effort. It produces the resources necessary to meet current institutional needs, while allowing greater flexibility in planning and practice. It also helps create tradition while working toward a common goal: the betterment of education for the young men and women of De La Salle. The Annual Fund goal for 2007-2008 is $680,000. The Legacy Circle recognizes alumni and friends of De La Salle who have provided for the school in their estate plans through a bequest commitment or other means of deferred giving. Please remember De La Salle as you conduct your estate planning with your financial advisor and tax attorney. Click here to learn more about the Legacy Circle. The Principal Benefactors are devoted friends who, through their consistent exceptional philanthropy, significantly enhance De La Salle Institute's work in Catholic education. Membership is comprised of those individuals whose lifetime contributions to De La Salle have totaled $50,000 or more. The President's Club is the leadership component of the De La Salle Annual Fund Program, representing nearly 80 percent of the total revenue raised. This distinguished group of individuals demonstrates a tangible interest in supporting De La Salle, its goals, direction and plans by taking the highest financial leadership role in the De La Salle community. Further, the generosity of these members inspires others to review their role in investing in the future of De La Salle and its students. Membership gifts begin at $1,500. The Parent Pledge Program includes school families who make a cash gift or pledge to De La Salle, and/or have pledged to participate in one of the school's fundraising opportunities, such as the Fall Student Raffle, the D-FINAL Event, the Annual Golf Classic or the Ad Book Drive. Funds raised from this program help make up the tuition deficit. Click here for more information about the Parent Pledge Program. Class Reunion Giving represents our care for the past and future excellence of De La Salle. An important part of the reunion celebration is the class gift. Whether you attend the alumni reunion banquet or not, participation in the class gift is a way of saying thank you to De La Salle for a privileged education.
WAYS TO MAKE A GIFT Your giving helps to pass along a legacy of involvement and caring that has been a focal point in the lives of so many young students. Thank you for making a difference. Click here to make your gift online Cash A majority of all gifts to De La Salle come in the form of cash, via check, money order or credit card. These gifts help meet the school's most immediate needs and entitle you to the most generous federal income tax deduction available for charitable contributions. Marketable Securities A gift of appreciated securities that you have held for more than one year is frequently the most economic way to give. You will be eligible to take a federal income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift for up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income, with the same five-year carryover as noted above. In addition, you will not have to recognize the appreciation as capital gain. Deferred Gifts A simple means of providing substantial support to De La Salle Institute is to include the Institute in your will. Other types of deferred gifts can be made through the use of charitable remainder trusts, De La Salle charitable gift annuities, insurance policies and retirement plans. Corporate Matching Gifts Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage their employees to contribute to a favorite charity. Corporate matching gifts can double or even triple the value of your gift if your employer or your spouse's employer participates in a matching gift program. Many programs also match gifts made by their retirees. Contact your Human Resources office at your or your spouse's place of employment concerning the availability of a matching gifts program or click here to review the list of companies that match contributions made to De La Salle. Click here for a list of Corporate Match Companies In-Kind Gifts In-kind gifts are gifts of materials or services, rather than monies. Such gifts might include equipment, computer hardware and software, furniture, books or materials like lumber or fabric for theatrical costumes or scenic elements. In-kind contributions can make a real difference in the quality of education for our students. Online Giving You can make your gift online.
