- Minutes from meeting 4.19.07 approved unanimously.
- Discussion of how to get involved with the students during their 4 years at DLS was discussed. Some ways to get involved are:
- Open Houses
- First Day of School/Freshman Orientation
- Senior Pin Mass
- Practice is a bad opportunity
- Parent presents pin if he/she is an alumnus/a
- Honor Roll certificate presentation days
- Creating an Alumnus of the month
First two alumni will be chosen in August for September & October
- Blue/Gold Game
- Junior Ring Mass
- Everything done must be done at both campuses
- Alumni Banquet Committee Report was provided by Tony Khazen, Mike Chmiel, and Bob Fiorentino
- Association agreed honoring Larry Wenshutonis at the banquet would be appropriate and should be used as a selling point
- Bob went over the minutes from the meeting to notify the association of action taken by the committee and planned in the future.
- Association feels class of ’57 should have some rights when determining whether to hire a piano player or not.
- The association agrees with the recommendation of the committee to move the banquet downtown for 2008.
- Bob is sending the honor key criteria to the banquet committee as well as the association members who regularly attend meetings
- Fundraising was discussed. Ideas include:
- $25 Super Pass – Allows bearer to admission to DLS sporting events, theater productions, musical recitals, etc.
- Can help create a sense of autonomy for the association if funds are being raised
- Question was raised as to how much must be raised – at least $1,000 per year to cover pins
- Ad book extremely important to the fundraising aspect of the banquet. Money can possibly be transferred to the association
- DLS alumni apparel is another option to make money. T-shirts would be the first option. Bob will look into it.
- John Lorenz will look into having polo shirts printed for the active Association members.
- Mission Statement was discussed again. The point was made that a statement should focus on the following:
- Mission
- Structure
- Committee
- Next meeting a discussion must take place regarding the nomination of new Board Members.
